How to Prevent the Oil Temperature of the Injection Molding Machine from Rising?

In the injection molding industry, the problem of oil temperature rise troubles us a lot. The rise of oil temperature will not only affect the work of the machine, but also seriously affect the life of the machine.

So how do we prevent the temperature rise of injection molding oil? We should analyze this problem according to viscosity index, whether there is a good hydraulic cooling system, viscosity, and other comprehensive properties.

The way to prevent the oil temperature of the injection molding machine from rising

1. Viscosity index (VI)

This index more directly reflects the nature of the oil viscosity changing with the temperature change, (that is, the viscosity-temperature characteristics of the oil). And the higher viscosity index of the oil indicates that the viscosity of the oil changes less with the temperature change; Conversely, larger. If the viscosity index of the oil is relatively high, then it indicates that the viscosity of the oil changes relatiely little with temperature. Conversely, it is larger.

The viscosity index of anti-wear hydraulic oil from well-known foreign manufacturers is VI ≥ 110, and the viscosity index of domestic high-grade one is about 95. Besides, the viscosity index of high viscosity index hydraulic oil (HV) and multi-grade engine oil produced abroad is VI>140, but the domestic ones cannot reach this level.

The reduction of the viscosity index will reduce the environmental temperature range that the oil can adapt to. If it must be in used, you should inquire about the relevant information from the oil manufacturer, and also make appropriate adjustments to the range of use of the oil. If necessary, you should also change the relevant settings of the equipment ( such as extreme temperature, etc.).

2. Good hydraulic oil cooling system

For the improvement of the hydraulic oil cooling system of the injection molding machine (more precisely, the hydraulic oil temperature control system), although the specific methods adopted by each manufacturer are different, the basic idea is the same. Check whether the hydraulic oil radiator is blocked by dirt, resulting in a decrease in heat dissipation efficiency. Clean the radiator if necessary.

3. Hydraulic oil viscosity

The principle of determining the viscosity of hydraulic oil is to make the viscosity of hydraulic oil (for components such as pumps and motors) in the optimum range (16 -36×10-6mm2/s).

The viscosity of the short-term cold start corresponding to the lowest ambient temperature is ≤1000X10-6mm2/s. And the viscosity corresponding to the maximum allowable leakage oil temperature of 90°C for a short time is ≥10X10-6mm2/s.

4. Other comprehensive properties

Due to the high working pressure of the hydraulic system of modern injection molding machines (≥14MPa), the maximum allowable working oil temperature of the hydraulic oil is also high (about 50°C). Thererfore, to ensure that the hydraulic system can work normally during the normal oil change cycle, the oil selected for the system is required to have good quality in terms of lubricity, oxidation stability, wear resistance, anti-rust and corrosion resistance, anti-emulsification, anti-foaming properties, anti-shear stability and extreme pressure load performance.

Especially when choosing a substitute oil, be sure to pay attention to meet the requirements of the substitute oil standard. Otherwise, serious problems such as system overheating and damage to components may occur due to the oil quality not meeting the requirements during the use of the equipment.
